Understanding the Foundation:

Color Correction First

Before you begin the creative journey of grading, ensure your image has a solid technical foundation. Color correction is the essential first step.

Adjust the temperature (blue to yellow) and tint (green to magenta) to ensure whites appear neutral and colors are accurate to the scene’s lighting.

Set a proper exposure. Use the histogram to avoid clipped highlights or crushed shadows. Establish a base contrast to give the image depth.

Recover details in highlights and shadows using tools like Highlights, Shadows, Whites, and Blacks sliders.

Only once your image looks balanced and natural should you proceed to artistic grading.

The Essential Tools for Color Grading

Most professional photo editing software like Adobe Lightroom, Capture One, or Photoshop offers a core set of tools for grading.

* HSL/Color Panel: The heart of selective color control. Adjust the Hue (the color itself), Saturation (the intensity of the color), and Luminance (the brightness of the color) for individual color ranges (Reds, Oranges, Yellows, etc.). This is perfect for making skies pop, enhancing skin tones, or muting distracting elements.
* Color Wheels (Split Toning): A powerful tool for defining the mood. You assign different colors to the Shadows, Midtones, and Highlights of your image.
* Shadows: Adding a cool blue or teal to shadows can create depth and a cinematic feel.
* Highlights: Warming highlights with orange or yellow can evoke sunshine, nostalgia, or warmth.
* Midtones: Affects the bulk of the image and is key for establishing the overall color cast.
* Curves Tool: The most advanced tool for precision. The RGB curve controls overall luminance and contrast. More importantly, you can adjust the Red, Green, and Blue channels individually within the curve to create sophisticated color shifts and iconic looks (like the classic “S-curve” for contrast or teal & orange looks).
* Calibration Panel (Lightroom): A subtle but powerful tool that shifts the primary color bases (Red, Green, Blue). Small adjustments here can create unique, film-like color renditions that affect the entire image globally.

Crafting a Color Grade:

A Step-by-Step Workflow

What is the story or emotion? Is it a warm, joyful portrait; a cool, moody landscape; or a vibrant, energetic street scene? Have a goal before moving sliders.

Start broad. Use the Shadows, Midtones, and Highlights wheels to establish the foundational color relationship. The classic “complementary color” scheme (e.g., teal shadows & orange highlights) is popular for its visual appeal and depth.

Now, target specific colors. Enhance the saturation of a subject’s eyes, shift the hue of foliage, or reduce the luminance of a bright blue shirt that distracts from the subject.

Use the RGB curve for final contrast polish. Experiment with individual color channels to fine-tune the color balance you set with the wheels. For instance, a slight upward point in the blue channel’s shadows can reinforce a cool shadow tone.

Use radial filters, graduated filters, or adjustment brushes to apply your grade selectively. Perhaps you want the subject’s face warmer than the background, or you need to add a sunset color to just the sky.

Pro Tips for a Professional Finish

* Skin Tones are Paramount: Always keep an eye on skin tones. Use the Orange hue and luminance sliders in the HSL panel to keep skin looking natural and healthy, regardless of the overall grade.
* Subtlety is Key: Heavy-handed grading can look artificial. Make small, intentional adjustments. The best grades often feel innate to the image.
* Consistency for Series: When editing a photo series, use Presets or Sync Settings to apply a consistent look, creating a cohesive portfolio or story.
* Reference Great Work: Study the color palettes in films, professional photography, and art you admire. Try to deconstruct how they use color to create feeling.
* Calibrate Your Monitor: Your edits are only as good as your screen. A calibrated monitor ensures the colors you see are accurate.

Conclusion

Color grading is not about following rigid rules, but about developing a visual language. It’s a skill built on understanding color theory and the tools at your disposal, then applying them with artistic intention. Start by practicing the workflow—correction, global mood, selective refinement—and experiment fearlessly. Over time, you’ll develop an instinct for color that will become an integral, powerful part of your photographic voice.

With what seems like a million new accessories on the market to improve the ergonomics of your computer desk, or to help keep your computer workstation more organized, or to simply make your computer mobile and more versatile, how do you know which ones are junk and which ones are worth buying? Well… that depends completely on you.

Lame answer? Were you expecting a personalized list of important accessories that will be worth their expense? Sorry. That’s not possible. Like the upgrades available on vehicles, some are valuable and used every day, making the driving experience more enjoyable, and some are added only to realize you could have lived without them just as easy. Some people rely daily on their GPS systems, some find them to be a colossal waste of money. Some folks pay extra to have splash guards, others would prefer to spend that money on car washes. Like a car, adding the right accessories to a computer desk depends largely on who will be sitting at the desk.

Let’s start with a basic accessory: the keyboard tray or arm. Do you need it? Yes. Why? Because ergonomics are important. The most likely way to injure yourself while sitting at a computer table (yes, injuries are possible) is by using a keyboard tray in a way that’s not ergonomic or comfortable to your body. Overuse injuries in the wrists and hands can lead to the development of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, a painful condition in the wrist and arms that limits mobility, reduces the amount of weight a person can lift, and can evolve into permanent disability. A keyboard tray slides in and out, allowing you to hide it under the desktop while a keyboard arm adjusts for height and tilt, so that the user can position it correctly (the correct position is a slight tilt, with the entire keyboard slightly below the bend of the elbow). Arms are better than trays. This is the accessory you need, even if you only sit at your computer desk a short time each day.

Next, LCD monitor arms. These are accessories that allow you to mount the flat panel monitors to the wall, to the back of the desk, to the shelf above the desk—basically anywhere you want, to keep the monitor from sitting right in the middle of your desktop, wasting useful work space. Do you need one? Maybe. How do you know if you do? You probably will appreciate a monitor arm if one or both of these conditions apply to you: (1) You find your desk is always cluttered and you could really use more space to organize paperwork, write notes, or could use the space for something else you like to have at your fingertips such as reference books, staplers, a radio, etc; (2) You find that light changes throughout the day cause a glare on your screen. LCD arms tilt and move, so you can easily slide the monitor over a bit rather than spend half the afternoon squinting one eye.

Third, CPU holders. These are shelf-like things that keep your CPU (that big thing that sits by your feet) off the floor and connected to the desk. Do you need one? Maybe. How do you know if you do? You will enjoy having a CPU holder if: (1) You find yourself kicking the CPU (which can damage it) or getting your feet tangled among the mess of cables that come out of the back; (2) Your desk is located in a place where CPUs are hard to secure and can be easily stolen, like in cubicles as opposed to offices; (3) You have a computer workstation on casters and like to, at times, move the desk keeping everything together in one unit without unplugging and making multiple trips; (4) You’re a clean freak and would love to be able to vacuum under the CPU.

As you sit at your computer desk, think about the things that annoy you, and chances are there’s probably an accessory to fix that. If so, that’s the one that’s right for you.

1. Really provides better cooling for your computer hardware

We all know that heat can really kill the motherboard, processor and other chips that are found in a computer case. If the temperature is too much it can fry the chips and leave your computer worthless. The more work you do, the longer you do it, the higher the workload on the pc. This causes heat to build up inside your computer. The traditional cooling fan that you can find on the back of the power supply of your computer is normally not enough to get it all the cooling it needs. Even with the other fan attached to the processor chip, your computer will most of the time not get all the cooling it needs.

If you were to use a rack, this would help to give your computer the cooling it needs, since it gives you a lot more space, unlike computers that don’t have racks.

2. You’ll have better air circulation

Without adequate space for your computer, there won’t be good air circulation and this can damage many things in your computer. A rack mount computer therefore gets better air circulation than one without it. And this goes a long way in protecting your computer.

3. Prevents vibration when playing load music

Good computer racks out there have vibration-dampening tendencies to prevent the vibration of your computer- especially when listening to load music from your speakers. Without these vibration-dampening tendencies, your speakers and even compute can slowly slip off your desktop, thereby causing damage.

4. Give more space for your computer

Your rack mount computer has more space than others without one. You are able to do more work than if you didn’t have a rack for your computer.

If you take all the above advantages into consideration you will come to find that using a rack mount computer instead of one without a rack is the way to go.

Microsoft Dynamics ERP product family consists of Microsoft Dynamics GP (former Microsoft Great Plains, Great Plains Software eEnterprise/Dynamics/Dynamics C/S+), Microsoft Dynamics AX (former Microsoft Axapta), Microsoft Dynamics NAV (former Microsoft Navision), Microsoft Dynamics SL (Solomon), Microsoft Dynamics CRM (former Microsoft CRM). In this small article we will be reviewing Microsoft Great Plains and its Spanish version, available and used in Argentina.
• Microsoft Dynamics GP, NAV & AX. All three are translated to Spanish and ready to be deployed in Argentina. Historically both Great Plains Software and Navision Software had marketing plans in Buenos Aires back in 1990th, prior to their acquisition by Microsoft. To consider international market – Microsoft seemed to be promoting Navision Attain / Navision on emerging markets, beginning at 2003 (when Navision made very hard time for Great Plains resellers/VARs in such countries as Brazil, Russia, Poland, Czech Republic), then in 2004/2005 (East Europe), 2005/2006 (LATAM/Brazil) Microsoft Business Solutions / Microsoft Dynamics subdivision of Microsoft decided to localize Microsoft Dynamics AX – Axapta for the same markets.
• Microsoft Dynamics GP/Great Plains. This ERP was architectured by Great Plains Software (Fargo, North Dakota) in the earlier 1990th as one of the first graphical Accounting/MRP packages – Great Plains Dexterity programming language and development tool was intended to isolate ERP from the specifics of computer graphical and database platforms. As for the GPS Dynamics in Argentina – it was translated to Spanish (Dexterity string resources) for versions 5.0, 6.0 and higher
• Great Plains Dexterity Customizations. Dexterity chunks were very elegant customization mechanism for earlier versions of Great Plains Dynamics up to the point when Microsoft Great Plains migrated and established itself as reliable Microsoft SQL Server 6.0, 7.0 and 2000 ERP application. When this happened – Great Plains Dexterity became mixed with SQL scripting and stored procedures, which made former Dexterity database independence and transferability principle irrelevant.
• Great Plains Accounting. You can still find clients in LATAM who run GPA – it is no more supported (support ended in 2002) by Microsoft Business Solutions, if you need support – you should contact VAR, such as Alba Spectrum. Who has access to legacy GPA support database
• Ctree & Btrieve/Pervasive SQL Legacy. The last version of Microsoft Great Plains, which was still supporting these platforms was Great Plains 7.5. Microsoft Business Solutions stopped Pervasive and Ctree/Faircomm support in December 2004. We know that this voluntary step left a lot of local clients in Argentina without the support options and lead to several mid-size businesses scandals.
• Competition. From the high end or functionally rich ERP applications Great Plains meets the competition from Oracle E-Business Suite/Oracle Applications/Oracle Financials and SAP R/3/mySAP/SAP-All-In-One. Also GP is facing the competition from Microsoft Axapta and even partially from Microsoft Navision. From the low end – or simple functionality ERPs Microsoft Dynamics GP is competing with SAP Business One (to be introduced in Argentina in 2006/2007). Plus you should consider locally developed ERP solutions

When Nintendo is mentioned, the first point that comes into a person’s mind is video games. It is a fact that Nintendo has actually been producing as well as producing different sort of video gaming consoles because the video clip game market was still in its early stage.

Unlike the video gaming consoles that you see today that were developed by Sony and also Microsoft, Nintendo is purely in the pc gaming industry. Sony is known for their hardware as well as Microsoft on the various other hand is understood for creating software program. I just recently got an opportunity to transform a few of DVDs right into DivX and afterwards after a search on the web found the ImTOO MPEG Encoder, a good conversion utility. My experience with any conversion energy has actually never been so excellent until I began dealing with this conversion energy which shows up in a straightforward GIU (Icon). For a trial I selected up as well as crammed my favored DVD right into the CD tray as well as initiated the conversion procedure to DivX in few basic actions as well as pursued some grocery buying which took me around half an hour and also when I returned back the conversion was already done, wow! That was fast.

Further I examined and located that this ImTOO MPEG Encoder also sustains various other video clip discussion styles like AVI, DVD, MOV, SIGN, CDA, VOB, WMV, XviD, 3GP, 3G2, Animated GIF, MP4, as well as much more which is great. Many other software program encoders or converters present today are either hefty or takes a while for the conversion procedure to finish. Sometime I have actually had also negative experience where my computer system would sit right there at some percentage of development and also would never appear it. Resembles ultimately, there is an outstanding remedy offered many thanks to ImTOO Software program Workshop.

Likewise, the software program is suggested for virtually any individual from any kind of age team to use as it’s so straightforward. If you are a rookie or a newbie, after that pick-up the Wizard Setting which will certainly guide you with the steps bring about a last conversion where you can choose the resource and also the destination formats which’s all, the conversion procedure will start. If you already have previous experience in the video conversion location with a few other energies where you lost your time, then you will certainly enjoy this software as you can choose lots of files in various styles and obtain them all transformed into one single layout output documents.

Below is the catch! This software program does not wait on the initial file to convert followed by 2nd and also 3rd etc, if you are utilizing a multi-threaded CPU, the conversion process will start for every single file at the same time. There the more documents you convert at the same time, the exact same time it takes to transform them. So if you were just converting one file which would certainly take 30 minutes, currently as opposed to that, start transforming 2 or 3 files at exact same time and they will certainly all take half an hour with each other. I have never seen this occurring in any various other video clip encoder or converter software.

Now the Advanced setting is not any type of different and is likewise extremely simple to manage as well as does the same work a wizard setting would do. Everything depends whislafjch setting you fit using as once you grow in your video clip conversion experience, a wizards setting does not seems like an apparent choice. The various other alternatives readily available is an overwrite function which can be utilized whenever you want the files to be re-written utilizing the built-in encoders and also a zoom/split function giving full control in individuals hands. If you do not such as any type of component in the movie, you can preview it and cut it out.

Boost you land up in some kind of complication which I would question, still don’t fret as there is assistance available also for path packs. It software functions on any type of Windows 2000/XP as well as even Panorama RTM. Why wait go order your duplicate and allow other learn about this inexpensive and also ideal software program they all can afford to acquire.
